The food here is incredible! Ordered the chicharron, fish tacos, platano maduro, yuca fries and aguachile. Very reasonably priced with huge portions. Really great spot for happy hour and for sunset views on the rooftop. Luis provided great service as well. Definitely a great spot to start any weekend in SF.

El Techo is one of my favorite rooftop bars in SF. You have a clear view of the entire skyline while hanging out in the company of a vibrant crowd, amid the aroma of freshly-roasted and fried foods. On my most recent visit, I reserved a table for Sunday dinner via Yelp. We were fortunate to experience a non-foggy evening, and our table had an excellent view of the skyline. For our group of six, we ordered a pitcher of sangria and about half a dozen small plates to share, including: the yuca frita, empanadas de carne, albondigas de pollo, guac, and the chicharrones de carne. I was surprised when the chicharrones arrived at our table; expecting a plate of pork cracklins, we were served a heaping platter of roasted pork topped with the cracklins alongside pickled vegetables, warm corn tortillas, beans, and salsa. Among the smaller plates, the yuca fries were my favorite because they are always served piping hot. The albondigas were also tasty, but the empanadas lacked the bold flavors that punctuated the other dishes. (Another area for improvement is the sangria would benefit from the addition of fresh fruit). It started to get chilly towards the end of the evening, but fortunately, our table was conveniently located right next to a heat lamp. :)

My friends and I visited on Sunday at 2pm with reservations. Our waiter was nice and only job was to bring us our food since we ordered through a qr code on the phone. Service was so quick; food came out in 5-10 minutes! The rooftop is cute and the view is very nice. It's the perfect spot to get food and drinks with friends, and you can pay your own tab without the hassle of splitting. My friend is vegetarian, and there were plenty of options. Parking is street. We ordered a bunch of apps to try: guacamole ($13), ensalada de acelga ($13), agua chile ($16), tacos de canasta ($13), huevos rancheros ($14), and plantano maduro ($10). I wasn't too hungry so only had the agua chile, and it was alright. Solid but nothing special. It tasted fresh and tart but was too wet for my liking as it resembled cold fish soup. I also wish they provided a few more chips since two is clearly not enough for the whole bowl. My friends ate the other dishes, and they thought it was pretty good. Their only critique was that everything was a bit too salty to fully enjoy the other flavors. I also ordered a Paloma, and it was super yummy but not very strong, more like fruit juice. Overall, we all had a great time here! Food and drinks were good and decently priced (minus the $13 guacamole), service is prompt, and rooftop is fun and lively.

Haven't been here since pre-Covid. Trendy, rooftop bar with a breathtaking view of downtown sf. There used to be a wait and crowds but came in on at 6 pm on a Friday; seated immediately after making a reservation online. Surprised it was not as packed as before. Food here to be honest is okay. We got the ahi fish tacos which seems to be a fan fave. It tasted fresh. Chips and guac were solid. The Paloma wasn't overly sweet . We also ordered a picker of sangria which had one too many ice in ice Definitely recommend. Must stop for date night, showing family around the area and. One of my favorite rooftop bar.

I wanted to only give 4.5 but let's be clear, they've earned every star! The 5 flights to the top is being worth it! We ordered sangria which was tasty and did the job. $38 the pitcher was plenty for 2.

5 stars for the happy hour! I love that everything is $7, from the drinks to the food. The margarita and pollo frito are awesome. Not on happy hour, but the pina colada is delicious. Not your average blended drink, much more sophisticated. ;) Yay for rooftop happy hour!
